How to Safely Search for a Job

Our Website

Careers in Conservation Zambia is a free website – for both job searchers and for companies seeking new employees. We will never ask you for money for searching for a job or for using our website. There are legitimate job recruitment agencies, but do be wary if they ask you for money. Legitimate companies will never ask you for a fee when you apply for a job.

Our website is free for legitimate companies to post upcoming jobs.

We do our best to research each company before a job is posted, but if you have any worries or complaints about a potential employer or advert, then contact us immediately.

Your Personal Safety

When you are applying for a job do be careful about what personal information you are giving. If you have any concerns about the type of information that is being requested, then don’t give it. For instance – never give out your personal bank details with your application.

Research a company before you apply – you can easily do this online through a company’s website, their social media pages or you could even check with PACRA to find out if they are a legitimate Zambian business.

Be Aware of Scams

Be aware of scams – is the proposed salary too good to be true? Is the job outside of Zambia? Ask around – if no one has heard of them then they might not be a legitimate company.

Your CV

Your CV (Curriculum Vitae) is an overview of your basic personal details, your employment and academic history and will include your qualifications. It is used by employers to screen the suitability of candidates so that they can match a job seeker to their available job. Whilst you will want to impress a future employer, too much personal information could lead to identity theft – this is when fraudsters obtain your personal details, steal your identity and then spend your money or take out loans in our name.

Interviews

When you are asked to attend a job interview always let a friend or family member know where and when your interview is being held and what time you will be back.

For more information on safely searching for a job then you can check out the UK’s SAFERjobs website which has lots of useful information. SAFERjob is a non-profit organisation which supports legitimate organisations and job seekers in the UK and their advice is valid for anyone seeking a job around the world.

Remember, if you do not feel comfortable when applying for a job, or during your interview, then perhaps it is not the right job for you.

And lastly…

If you think a company is not legitimate or you are a victim of a scam, then contact the Zambia Police, the Ministry and Labour and also contact us immediately.
